About the Role
Quant is seeking a Head of Platform Reliability to own the reliability of the On-Chain Money Initiative, a new interoperable payments network for US financial institutions. This role involves managing the full production environment, service levels, error budgets, and building and leading a team for 24/7 coverage.
Responsibilities
- Own the reliability of the full production environment (OP Stack, private Besu L1, Paladin nodes, Overledger Gateway, Settlement Bridge, Audit Store).
- Manage service levels and error-budget policy.
- Have the authority to stop a release when the error budget is spent.
- Build and lead the team that runs the production environment.
- Design and participate in a three-shift rotation for team coverage.
Requirements
- Led site reliability or production engineering where failure had consequences.
- Run error budgets in practice, including stopping a release and defending the decision.
- Honest experience of 24x7, multi-shift coverage, understanding what is sustainable for a team.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and an observability stack that has been debugged.
- Experience with blockchain nodes in production, particularly Besu or another Ethereum client.
- Experience in banking, payments, or a regulated environment where proof of operations was required.
