About the Role

Design and build the interfaces players use to read, decide, and navigate The Conformist's political world. This role covers how the interface looks and feels, and includes pipeline ownership to shape UI design, implementation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Design user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for game-system screens, menus, maps, and other panels.
  • Collaborate with game designers and narrative designers on how choices, consequences, and game state are surfaced to the player.
  • Make dense, text-heavy information readable and easy to navigate, with clear visual hierarchy and minimal friction.
  • Work with the art team to establish and maintain a consistent visual language that fits each game's world and tone.
  • Create high-quality UI art: layouts, icons, frames, buttons, typographic elements, diegetic elements (newspapers, documents, dossiers), and motion and transition states for UI animation.
  • Work closely with programmers to integrate UI in Unity, including prefabs, layout groups, anchoring, animation, and responsive scaling across resolutions and aspect ratios.
  • Own the UI style guide and component library, covering reusable elements, states, spacing, typography, and color systems, and establish naming conventions, folder structures, and export presets for game-ready assets.

Requirements

  • Proven professional experience as a UI Artist, UI/UX Designer, or similar role in the games industry.
  • Strong portfolio showing both visual UI work and UX thinking.
  • Strong eye for typography, layout, composition, visual hierarchy, color, and readability, especially for text-heavy interfaces.
  • Experience designing responsive UI that scales cleanly across resolutions and aspect ratios.
  • Experience designing complex systems UI such as stat screens, resource management, maps, or branching choice interfaces.
  • Solid understanding of UX and UI for PC and console games, including gamepad support.
  • Experience designing for mobile or console platforms.
  • Proficiency with Figma and Photoshop, and/or Illustrator or an equivalent vector tool.
  • Working knowledge of Unity.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards: legible text sizing, contrast, color-blind considerations, and input remapping.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort working with documentation and task-tracking tools such as Miro, Notion, Codecks, or similar.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Interest in political, historical, or propaganda-era visual aesthetics.
  • Professional experience building and implementing UI in Unity.
  • At least one shipped RPG or strategy/management game.
  • Console UI experience and familiarity with platform certification requirements.
  • Experience in graphic design, showing visual work such as icons, branding, or other illustrative elements.
  • Experience in UI work for mobile games or apps.
