About the Role

ICIS is establishing its first forward-deployed product team, and this role will spearhead that initiative. You will collaborate directly with chemicals customers to define customer-embedded, discovery-led product development at ICIS. This involves identifying high-value problems, rapidly validating solutions, and demonstrating tangible commercial value. You will lead a cross-functional squad, manage customer relationships, and guide projects from initial discovery through successful pilots and scalable patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Lead two to three active forward-deployed initiatives with named chemicals customers concurrently.
  • Deliver the first working proof of concept to a customer within 60 days of onboarding.
  • Drive the first paid pilot to launch within one quarter.
  • Manage the squad’s discovery and delivery cadence, ensuring weekly customer engagement.
  • Maintain a live discovery view for each initiative.
  • Act as the final approver for all outputs, ensuring no Product Requirements Document (PRD) is created without a working proof of concept.
  • Make decisions to terminate, adjust, or advance discovery tracks based on evidence and customer value.
  • Create documented playbooks and enablement materials for Sales and central productization teams upon validation of patterns.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customer-back, forward-deployed, or embedded product roles, with a history of shipping intelligence, workflow, or platform solutions into complex customer organizations, demonstrating specific metrics improved.
  • Experience in organizations with similar operational models, or in strategy/transformation consulting with subsequent ownership of a shipped customer outcome.
  • Demonstrated customer judgment at senior levels, distinguishing stated needs from underlying problems, identifying unstated constraints, and building trust to uncover information not typically shared in commercial discussions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence rather than formal authority, elevating standards and setting the tone for ICIS's customer interactions.
  • Commercial acumen in the field, translating customer realities into product direction beyond feature requests, making clear prioritization decisions, and identifying the root cause of blockers (product, platform, integration, execution, or change management).
  • Technical fluency to guide engineering and data science teams, including understanding modern AI production patterns (e.g., RAG, evals, agents, tool use, MCP) and recent experience building or prototyping AI-driven solutions.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments, creating structure, making decisions with incomplete information, and maintaining accountability through implementation and outcome measurement.
  • Effective communication skills adaptable to various audiences, including customers, technical stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Alignment with the Data Services Mindset (All Curious, All Lead, All Purposeful) and RELX Leadership Excellence (Prioritize Customers, Deliver Sustainable Performance, Embrace Curiosity).
  • Operation in line with RELX Responsible AI Principles.
