About the Role
Join ROLLER's Product and Engineering team, working across the stack on capabilities at the heart of our platform. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who wants to own meaningful customer problems from discovery and design through delivery, production operation and iteration, backend and front end alike. You'll work closely with product managers and engineers on your team, with room to form a view, challenge assumptions and make pragmatic technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable software across the stack, from backend services to the interfaces operators and guests use every day
- Develop APIs and integrations across ROLLER's platform, and build user-facing features using our design system and component library
- Take features from early discovery through technical design, implementation, release and iteration, working closely with product and engineering teammates
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability, performance, observability and maintainability as the platform scales
- Contribute to design discussions and code reviews, and help teammates improve without ego
- Connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes
Requirements
- Three to five years of professional software-engineering experience, although scope matters more than an exact number
- Strong full stack experience, comfortable moving between backend services and the interfaces that sit on top of them
- A track record of building and operating APIs, services or transactional product systems in a product, SaaS or similarly fast-moving environment
- Sound engineering fundamentals across data modelling, testing, security, performance, cloud patterns and maintainability
- Comfortable taking an ambiguous problem through to a practical outcome, and learning from production incidents or customer feedback along the way
- Clear communication, curiosity and the confidence to give and receive honest feedback
- A willingness to work from our South Melbourne office three days per week
- Proficiency and curiosity to embrace AI and technology
