About the Role
As a Conference and Events Manager, you will play a key role in bringing exceptional events to life at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. You will build strong client relationships, oversee seamless event delivery, and ensure every experience reflects the service and sophistication synonymous with Sofitel. A strong focus will be placed on maximizing revenue through upselling, identifying new business opportunities, supporting forecasting, and maintaining accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the Conference and Events function.
- Inspire the team to deliver outstanding service while driving commercial performance.
- Maximize revenue through upselling and identifying new business opportunities.
- Support forecasting and maintain accurate reporting across Delphi and Opera.
- Coordinate conferences, meetings, social events, and group accommodation.
- Ensure every detail is communicated and delivered to the highest standard.
- Prepare and oversee event documentation, proposals, and contracts.
- Host client meetings and site inspections.
- Act as the trusted point of contact throughout the client journey.
- Develop connections with new and existing clients, Accor hotels, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Actively seek opportunities to grow repeat business and strengthen our position within the Sydney events market.
- Develop Ambassadors through coaching, training, and day-to-day support.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Use insights, market knowledge, and commercial opportunities to continually elevate our Conference and Events offering.
- Be an ambassador for Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, bringing creativity, energy, and a passion for excellence to every interaction.
- Create memorable experiences for our clients, guests, and Ambassadors.
Requirements
- Confident and commercially minded hospitality professional with experience in Conference and Events, sales, or a similar environment.
- Genuine passion for creating exceptional experiences and building strong, lasting client relationships.
- Highly organised and proactive.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy planning and balancing multiple priorities to deliver seamless events from enquiry through to completion.
- Commercially savvy, with a natural ability to identify opportunities, drive upselling, and contribute to revenue growth.
- Strong communicator and team player.
- Confidently collaborate across Sales, Revenue, F&B, Banquets, and other hotel departments.
- Support and motivate your team to deliver exceptional service.
- Bring energy, ownership, and a passion for luxury hospitality.
- Desire to create memorable experiences for every client and guest at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour.
