About the Role

Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in assigned medical practice or practices. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly prepared.

Responsibilities

Greets and escorts patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, ensuring proper patient identification.
Performs clinical intake activities and documents patient information.
Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication history, social, and medical history.
Provides clerical and secretarial support, preparing patient charts and assisting with paperwork.
Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation.
Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked after each patient use.
Prepares patients for scheduled visits to maintain timely patient flow.
Conducts in-office testing as directed by the clinician and coordinates ancillary services.
Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the clinician.
Contacts patients to provide follow-up, advise on test results, or relay clinician instructions.
Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
Assists in the training of new staff.
Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Maintains and models the Organization’s values.
Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as required in accordance with their scope of practice.

Requirements

High School diploma/GED with 1-year Medical Assistant experience, or new graduate of Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job related experience in a medical office.
Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
Data entry skills required.
Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
Ability to travel between practices as needed.
Reliable transportation is a must.
