About the Role
Hapiko, a Spin Master company, is seeking a Trust & Safety engineer to own and improve the moderation pipeline, evals, and tooling for Stickerbox, a voice-activated sticker printer for kids. This role focuses on ensuring the safety of user-generated content, balancing protection with the allowance of harmless ideas.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain content moderation end to end, from what a child says to the image that prints, including copyrighted and licensed characters.
- Maintain and grow safety eval suites and use them to determine readiness for model, prompt, or threshold changes.
- Continuously improve classifiers and decide the best use of in-house versus third-party models.
- Tune moderation to reduce over-blocking while maintaining protection.
- Conduct ongoing red teaming against models and the pipeline.
- Maintain review tooling for flagged content and parent reports.
- Own the incident response runbook for safety issues.
- Maintain the technical aspects of compliance obligations, including data retention and deletion.
- Partner with ML and Backend/Platform engineers to integrate safety into new models and features.
Requirements
- Applied safety engineering experience on a product with real users.
- Experience building evals or classifiers for harmful content, not just configuring vendor APIs.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python, capable of shipping production code in the moderation path.
- Comfort with precision/recall tradeoffs and setting thresholds.
