About the Role

As a Software Engineer Intern at Dow Jones, you will gain hands-on experience with our teams, enhancing user engagement and optimizing technology for our sites and products. You'll contribute to shared technology platforms, stay current with web technologies, and make impactful changes to high-traffic websites. This role involves collaborating with and learning from skilled engineers in a culture that values diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineers across other Dow Jones products to leverage shared technology.
Understand and improve code development standards for shared applications and services.
Learn about new technologies and present their pros and cons regarding business value, scalability, maintainability, and project delivery.
Analyze complex technological problems and present solutions.
Analyze product requirements to make informed decisions on technical approaches.
Prioritize and manage work, adhering to project timelines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

Completed at least two years towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Familiarity with Javascript and javascript frameworks (React, node.js, next.js, etc.).
Understanding of capabilities with HTML5 and DOM manipulation.
CSS knowledge: Grid, Flexbox, Media Queries.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
Exposure to Docker, AWS or other cloud or container based application deployment is a plus.
Must be available to work full-time, in-office during the internship period.
Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate degree program.
Graduating between December 2027 and July 2029 (U.S.).
Does not require sponsorship for employment visa status (now or in the future) in the country where applying.
