About the Role

As an Experimentation Intern at Dow Jones, you will focus on understanding reader behavior and optimizing the subscription journey through testing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will gain hands-on experience designing, tracking, and evaluating A/B and multivariate tests across our iconic consumer brands, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and MarketWatch. This internship is embedded within the Subscription Audience team and provides cross-functional exposure to teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends and evaluate competitor tactics to pitch your own test ideas, seeing your hypotheses evolve from an initial concept into a live digital experiment.
  • Manage the end-to-end experiment pipeline by setting up cross-platform automations that keep tests moving smoothly from backlog grooming to real-time status updates.
  • Build out a smart, data-rich experiment repository that maps test results to specific site features and conversion levers to easily calculate win rates and overall CVR impact.
  • Partner with analysts to monitor live A/B and multivariate tests, diving into behavioral data and user funnels to uncover what drives readers to subscribe.
  • Translate complex experiment results and performance dashboards into clear, exciting takeaways for cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and the Newsroom.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field (Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related fields).
  • Coursework or foundational knowledge of experimentation principles (hypothesis testing, A/B testing concepts, or statistical significance).
  • Basic foundational knowledge of SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Exposure to or strong interest in learning experimentation and paywall platforms
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize experimental data into clear, easy-to-understand recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity.
  • Curiosity about digital audience behavior, user experience, and subscription growth strategies.
  • Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate degree program
  • Graduating in Dec 2027 – July 2029 (U.S.)
  • Does not require sponsorship for employment visa status (now or in the future) in the country where applying.
