About the Role

Array Marketing is seeking a Customs & Trade Compliance Analyst to support compliant, accurate, and efficient import and export activity across North American and global shipment lanes. This role will own the processes ensuring products move across borders accurately and efficiently, in compliance with customs requirements, with an initial focus on Canada-U.S. customs processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own Array’s customs and compliance governance process, establishing clear processes for how products are classified, documented, reviewed, and moved across borders.
  • Stay current on customs rules, tariffs, government requirements, and trade regulations, and translate them into practical business processes.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Array’s products and determine the appropriate HS, HTS, and tariff classifications across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Research classifications, rulings, and regulatory requirements and establish consistent processes for selecting and applying codes.
  • Ensure commercial invoices and other customs documentation contain the information required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Canadian customs authorities, and other applicable government agencies.
  • Review clearance requests, customs entries, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, and supporting documentation to ensure product descriptions, classifications, values, origin, quantities, and consignee details are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate and manage customs audits and act as a knowledgeable point of contact when working directly with customs authorities.
  • Monitor and audit internal customs processes, identify discrepancies or compliance risks, and work with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues.
  • Prepare, coordinate, or support amended customs documentation where corrections are required following clearance.
  • Manage duty drawback claims by identifying eligible shipments, coordinating documentation, reconciling supporting information, and working with brokers and internal teams on submissions.
  • Spot-check and validate broker invoicing and customs charges, review duty, brokerage, import, and export invoices for accuracy, and help ensure Array is being invoiced correctly and applying duties and tariffs appropriately.
  • Partner closely with Shipping and Logistics, Finance, Operations, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to understand how products move through the business and develop practical customs processes that work across teams.
  • Help determine how customs documentation and information should flow through our ERP and automated systems, supporting accurate and efficient document generation.
  • Expand global customs capability by researching and interpreting customs, classification, tariff, and documentation requirements for new jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Experience working in customs compliance, customs brokerage, import/export operations, or a closely related global trade function.
  • Understanding of customs rules, policies, documentation, audit requirements, and clearance processes.
  • Ability to independently apply customs knowledge to products and shipments.
  • Experience with U.S. customs and imports into the U.S. is particularly valuable.
  • Completed relevant customs training and ideally hold a customs designation or certification.
  • Experience researching, determining, and applying HS, HTS, and tariff classifications.
  • Understanding of how classification, origin, valuation, duties, tariffs, and supporting documentation affect cross-border shipments.
  • Ability to interpret customs requirements and translate them into practical actions and processes for the business.
  • Ability to review shipment and customs data to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and potential compliance risks.
  • Understanding of the level of rigor required when working with government agencies and preparing for customs audits.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies, validate information, and ensure records and processes can withstand regulatory scrutiny.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Comfortable working with ERP and automated systems.
  • Understanding of how information flows through an ERP and ability to help develop processes that generate accurate customs documentation.
  • Exposure to the U.S. Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is an asset.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with customs brokers, government agencies and internal partners across Finance, Shipping, Logistics, and Operations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with external government agencies, including during audits, and explain customs requirements clearly to colleagues.
  • Comfortable being the customs subject matter resource in a newly created role, researching answers and making informed recommendations when no playbook exists.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of issues, and know when to bring in your manager or other stakeholders for support.
