About the Role

Harris Energy Solutions, LLC (HES) is seeking a detail-oriented Field Quality Verifier to support asset inventory and facility condition assessment for municipal buildings in New York City. This field-based role involves surveying mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment, installing asset tags, and recording equipment data and condition for capital planning and maintenance management.

Responsibilities

  • Survey all major MEP equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, fans, water heaters, switchgear, panels, transformers, and backflow preventers.
  • Record nameplate data (manufacturer, model, serial number, capacity, voltage, year of manufacture) and equipment location.
  • Install rigid metal asset tags with unique IDs and QR or bar codes, following client naming conventions.
  • Photograph each asset to show nameplate, condition, and location, ensuring photos link to asset IDs.
  • Rate the physical condition of each asset, noting age, corrosion, leaks, noise, vibration, and missing components.
  • Record field observations for facility condition assessment reports, including estimated remaining useful life and repair/replacement needs.
  • Report urgent deficiencies and life-safety concerns to the project manager the same day.
  • Check daily data for completeness, duplicate IDs, and mismatches before leaving the site.
  • Reconcile field findings against existing asset lists and drawings, flagging discrepancies.
  • Upload inventory data and photos to the project platform daily and maintain organized records.
  • Coordinate site access with building managers, facility engineers, and security staff.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the project manager.
  • Represent HES professionally to client staff and building personnel.
  • Follow project protocols, inspection checklists, and data standards.
  • Perform field work in compliance with health and safety standards, including safe practices around energized and rotating equipment.

Requirements

  • Comfort with Excel, tablets, smartphones, mobile data-collection apps, and digital cameras.
  • Ability to travel reliably to job sites across the five boroughs by car or public transportation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a regular schedule of field visits.
  • Ability to meet site-access requirements for government facilities, which may include a background check.
  • One or more years of experience in HVAC or mechanical trades, building maintenance, facilities operations, building inspections, commissioning, or energy audits.
  • Ability to identify common MEP equipment types and read equipment nameplates.
  • Careful, consistent data entry and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access confined or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to use hand tools and a cordless drill to mount asset tags.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Comfort working in varied environmental conditions.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
