About the Role
Production Engineers (PEs) at Meta develop the underlying infrastructure for all Meta products and services, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability for billions of users. PEs work across product and infrastructure teams, writing high-quality code, solving complex production problems, and tackling challenges that impact over 2 billion people worldwide. You will contribute to code and systems used by millions daily, working alongside top engineers in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Own back-end services like Hadoop data warehouses, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components like Memcache.
- Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug complex systems in a live production environment.
- Share on-call rotations and act as an escalation contact for service incidents with your engineering team.
- Collaborate with engineers on code and systems that are deployed to production and used by millions of users.
Requirements
- Knowledge of internet service architectures (e.g., load balancing, LAMP, CDNs).
- Experience configuring and maintaining applications such as Apache, Memcached, Squid, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP.
- Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs.
- Experience learning development languages (PHP, Python, C++, Java).
- 7+ years of coding experience.
- 7+ years of experience in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
- Experience performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures.
