About the Role
Five Star Bank’s Summer Associate Program develops the next generation of financial services professionals to advance our vision of being an independent, high-performing community bank. Our IT Internship Program offers hands-on experience across Digital Banking, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and IT Operations, providing opportunities to grow, contribute, and make an impact.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and enhancing digital platforms that improve customer experience and drive engagement.
- Support infrastructure projects, help maintain system performance, and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Collaborate on application development, testing, and deployment using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and gain exposure to service management and operational excellence.
- Advance the Bank’s data catalog, helping create a more accessible and well-governed data environment.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, with a junior-level standing or higher preferred.
- Available to work a hybrid work model, 40 hours per week for the duration of the program starting in June.
- Occasional travel within corporate footprint (Buffalo and Rochester) will also be required.
- At least 1 year in one or more club(s), volunteerism efforts, or other activities outside of the classroom.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal customers, associates, and stakeholders.
- Incorporate the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example and serve in every facet of work.
Skills
- Familiarity with programming languages, cloud platforms, or IT service tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with basic IT concepts including networking, servers, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to technical detail.
- Ability to document processes and follow technical procedures accurately.
- Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and end-users.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, or networking tools is a plus.
