About the Role
Alpaca Health is seeking a Strategic Finance Associate to serve as the analytical core for major financial decisions. This role involves building and managing models, forecasts, and metrics to guide capital allocation, pricing, and expansion strategies, with direct collaboration with the Head of Operations & Strategy and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the financial operating model and forecasts, including revenue, margin, burn, and runway, ensuring alignment with operational drivers.
- Analyze variances, identify root causes, and pinpoint key drivers for action.
- Provide analytical support for strategic decisions concerning new-state expansion, payer contracts, pricing, and unit economics, offering clear recommendations.
- Develop KPI packages, board materials, and investor data for fundraising and board presentations.
- Automate manual reporting, reconciliation, and data extraction processes using scripts, AI tools, and dashboards.
- Collaborate with the Head of Operations & Strategy to define success metrics and own associated outcomes.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, strategic finance, FP&A, consulting, or a similar analytical role, preferably at a venture-backed startup (Seed–Series C).
- Advanced financial modeling skills, including three-statement and driver-based operating models.
- Strong proficiency in Excel/Sheets.
- Hands-on technical ability with SQL.
- Comfort with Python, APIs, or AI tools for automating analysis and reporting.
- Experience in a regulated or operationally complex environment like healthcare, fintech, or marketplaces is preferred; RCM or payer experience is a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated track record of exceptional problem-solving with measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- An ownership mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and solving high-leverage problems.
- Understanding of AI model strengths and weaknesses, including building review steps for AI output and leveraging AI for efficiency.
