About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager within TELUS Health's Payer Provider Operations Project Management team, you will be responsible for the complex implementation of high-stakes health systems impacting clients across Canada. You will manage large-scale projects within our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) solutions, Health Insurance Plan management initiatives, and/or Pharmacy Systems deployments, working independently to drive projects from business case and charter to project planning with the flexibility to develop your own framework. Your leadership will be crucial for project success, collaborating with a values-driven, engaged team committed to continuous improvement and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects within our Payer Provider Operations portfolio, including EMR solutions, Health Insurance Plan management, or Pharmacy Solutions system implementations.
- Work autonomously while overseeing a team in developing project charters, creating business cases, managing schedules, budgets, and risks with minimal supervision, and strategically escalating issues as needed.
- Present to senior leadership with clarity and confidence, translating complex technical or project-specific information into actionable decision-making insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage diverse, matrixed project teams (Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Clinical Teams, Communications, Vendors) through training and mentorship, ensuring alignment between internal TELUS teams and external client organizations.
- Promote standardized project management methodologies, tools, and collaborative platforms while fostering deliverable excellence and mentoring functional team members.
- Manage and analyze complex reports, ensuring implementations deliver tangible benefits to TELUS Health and clients.
- Author highly effective project communications (infographics, memos, executive reports) tailored to various audiences, from client communications to updates for senior leadership or the steering committee.
Requirements
- Bilingualism (French and English).
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Healthcare, or a related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience with demonstrated expertise in applying project management principles, tools, and methodologies.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading large-scale implementations of complex healthcare systems (EMR solutions, clinical systems, health plan platforms) throughout the project lifecycle, including sustainability planning.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing numerous competing priorities under pressure and meeting firm deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in healthcare system implementation with a demonstrated understanding of health systems, operational complexity, and patient care impacts.
- Strong leadership skills, including decision-making, influencing without authority, and managing stakeholder expectations in matrixed environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing ambiguity and implementing change management and systems thinking approaches.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex information to a range of audiences, from clinical staff to senior leadership.
- Advanced knowledge of English is required for frequent interaction with external parties (clients, vendors, partners), internal parties (colleagues, stakeholders), and working within an English IT environment for national scope tasks.
