About the Role

Booker T. Washington Community Service Center (BTWCSC) seeks a reliable, collaborative, and results-driven Post-Secondary Success Coordinator to support high school, post-secondary, and Transitional Age Youth (TAY) participants in their transition to college, career training, employment, or independent living. This role is responsible for shaping and carrying out BTWCSC's post-secondary vision by designing and delivering programming that supports young people navigating life after high school, ensuring they have access to opportunities, belonging, persistence, and long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Support TAY in pursuing post-secondary pathways: college enrollment or re-enrollment, workforce entry, vocational training, credential programs, paid internships, and independent living readiness.
  • Provide individualized planning for non-matriculated TAY emphasizing employment readiness, career exploration, life skills, and stabilization supports.
  • Assess participants' strengths, interests, academic or work history, and barriers to build realistic, strengths-based action plans.
  • Conduct regular check-ins to track milestones such as GED completion, job placement, credential attainment, or re-engagement in education or training.
  • Coordinate crisis response and ongoing support with families, Property Management, and community partners when challenges arise.
  • Collaborate with Youth Programs and BSAFE teams to align goals, coordinate interventions, and ensure consistent support.
  • Develop and facilitate a college and career readiness curriculum covering applications, pre-college testing, financial aid, scholarships, job readiness, and life skills.
  • Support youth in understanding testing requirements, registering for exams, accessing fee waivers and accommodations, preparing for tests, and interpreting scores.
  • Plan and lead local and out-of-state college visits, corporate tours, and career exploration experiences.
  • Maintain current resources on transferable credits, post-secondary programs, testing requirements, scholarships, internships, and employment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with post-secondary institutions, partner programs, and college access organizations.
  • Sustain partnerships with colleges, universities, trade organizations, apprenticeship programs, and CBOs to expand culturally safe engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with high schools, counselors, and external programs to support shared students.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, families, schools, and post-secondary institutions, minimizing language, cultural, and systems-based barriers.
  • Help students identify and apply for scholarships, grants, and financial aid.
  • Provide case management, referrals, and job placement assistance.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with Continued Post-Secondary Students to support persistence and track outcomes.
  • Identify barriers to matriculation and provide continued advising for youth not immediately matriculated.
  • Educate caregivers on post-secondary planning, financial aid, and college systems.
  • Conduct regular parent/guardian check-ins and facilitate family workshops and information sessions.
  • Participate in parent-teacher and IEP meetings alongside student support teams when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate participant data, case notes, and outcomes in BTWCSC's systems.
  • Track outcomes and contribute to grant and funder reporting.
  • Attend required program, department, and agency-wide meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with BTWCSC's mission and youth development goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of relevant experience working with youth or young adults in school-based programs, afterschool settings, college access initiatives, workforce development, housing-based services, or nonprofit social services.
  • Experience supporting first-generation college students, transitional age youth (TAY), or system-impacted youth is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the distinct needs, barriers, and strengths of youth from historically marginalized communities, including communities of color, grounded in a culturally responsive and strengths-based approach.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate post-secondary readiness activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain trusting, professional relationships with youth, families, colleagues, volunteers, and external partners.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also exercising independent judgment.
  • Emotional maturity, professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting programming and supports to meet youth needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to learn and consistently use data systems for tracking and reporting outcomes.
