About the Role
DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with proven experience supporting DB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform. Responsibilities include working with application development teams to install and migrate releases, support execution of data fixes, define and execute database recovery functions, and perform standard database tuning procedures. The role supports critical systems including Payroll Management System (PMS), Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS), and Financial Management System (FMS).
Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases.
- Author and validate procedures for all database processes.
- Identify potential issues and deliver modifications/updates for DB2 programs.
- Communicate with and deliver migration elements to Tech Support with specific instructions for production migration.
- Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
- Define and execute database recovery functions and standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs).
- Monitor the health of key database operations (backup/recovery, logging, system response times).
- Open and manage tickets logged with IBM to resolution.
- Work with application development teams to install/migrate software releases and support data fix execution.
- Troubleshoot DB2 DB issues with online and batch programs during various testing and development phases.
- Design and execute technical tests to ensure vendor and Client software deliveries meet business and technical requirements.
- Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product, ensuring high availability.
Requirements
- Experience with IBM DB2 V12 or higher.
- Demonstrated experience working with application teams to build and maintain data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server.
- Experience with CICS transaction server.
- Ability to author REXX scripts.
- Ability to troubleshoot assembler code.
- Experience with installation, configuration, and tuning of new DB2 databases.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs.
- Ability to perform all database admin duties (backup/recovery, reorgs, DB troubleshooting).
- Experience with performance tuning at a DB2 system level or individual SQL statements/procedures.
