About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer - Mobile (iOS) on the Ordering team, you will work on our consumer-facing applications end-to-end, from cart through checkout and payment to order history. Your main platform is our iOS app, and you will design interfaces between the app and our services. The Ordering team owns the critical part of Flink where a basket becomes an order, handling all aspects from cart to order creation and history. You will contribute across platforms, work on Android, and occasionally on BFFs, leveraging AI coding agents to enhance productivity and code quality.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship the cart, checkout, payment, and order history experiences in our iOS app using Swift and SwiftUI.
- Move legacy checkout code forward.
- Take features from prototype through technical design, implementation, release, and production monitoring.
- Address challenges such as handling out-of-stock items, improving payment success rates, and clearly displaying fees, discounts, and vouchers.
- Utilize coding agents like Claude Code for writing, testing, reviewing, and porting code, and improve agent instructions and skills.
- Lead code reviews, write unit and UI tests (XCTest and Maestro), and maintain CI and release processes.
- Monitor crashes, errors, and payment failures in Datadog, resolve production incidents, and fix issues at the root.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Analysts on product development, using data and experiments to inform decisions.
- Mentor engineers and share knowledge about agents across the Consumer domain.
- Follow secure coding practices for payments and personal data, and promptly fix vulnerabilities.
Requirements
- Native mobile engineer with experience building and shipping consumer apps on iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) or Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose). iOS experience is preferred.
- Solid engineering foundation including mobile architecture, concurrency, networking, and testing.
- Experience releasing apps safely through the App Store or Google Play and maintaining features in production.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or GitHub Copilot, understanding what to delegate to an agent and verifying results.
- Quality of impact over years of tenure is valued.
