About the Role

The GSAM Fundamental Equities, Japan Team is seeking a highly motivated individual to cover listed companies in Real Estate and Small-Mid cap sectors, with flexibility to extend sector coverage. This role involves serving as an integral member of a deep, fundamental-driven investment team, collaborating with the Lead Portfolio Manager, and formulating high-conviction investment recommendations.

Responsibilities

Serve as an integral member of a deep, fundamental-driven investment team; closely collaborate with and support the Lead Portfolio Manager in fundamental research, risk management, and client marketing initiatives.
Formulate high-conviction investment recommendations, maintain comprehensive financial models, and take direct accountability for the performance of the sectors under your coverage.
Share joint responsibility for the overall performance, construction, and risk management of the funds under management in a Co-Portfolio Manager capacity.
Maintain regular, high-impact dialogue with Japanese senior management teams and IR professionals to drive bottom-up, fundamental research across multiple investment horizons.
Ensure all investment decisions align with risk limits, portfolio guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

10+ years of buy-side equity investment experience with a strict focus on fundamental bottom-up research.
A proven, demonstrable track record of generating independent investment ideas that have consistently generated alpha.
Outstanding team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering collaboration and mentoring junior team members.
Complete fluency in written and verbal English, combined with native-level Japanese language skills.
