About the Role
A janitor is responsible for cleaning hard floor surfaces, carpets, washrooms, and common areas, as well as collecting and removing garbage. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs, and other surfaces inside buildings.
- Perform stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets, and cleaning windows upon request.
- Wash windowsills, interior door glass, partition glass, and specified windows.
- Clean glass and trim at entrance doors, both interior and exterior.
- Spot clean interior walls daily.
- Clean bathrooms daily, including restocking paper supplies, damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, and stall partitions, and sweeping/mopping/scrubbing floors.
- Assist the supervisor with additional tasks as needed.
- Monitor for and report defects such as clogged urinals and lights out to supervisors.
- Clean showers in two buildings located across the street from each other.
- Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move it to the designated collection area.
- Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers according to specifications.
- Perform high dusting, wall washing, operate compactors, lift up to 50lbs, use heavy-duty machines, and change garbage.
Requirements
- Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using cleaning tools and equipment.
- Must possess own transportation.
- Requires attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
