About the Role
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and janitorial standards at the primary work location and is available to work at any HomeRise-managed properties as needed. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Follow all organizational safety procedures, policies and instructions.
- Report significant safety concerns or physical plant problems via work order.
- Perform all janitorial duties as assigned.
- Rotate garbage and recycling per instructions.
- Empty common-area trash cans.
- Clear trash chutes.
- Maintain cleanliness of sidewalks and perimeter of site.
- Clear debris, clean up spills, and maintain cleanliness of all common areas.
- Move furniture and other items within and between sites.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience with janitorial work or certification through a janitorial training program.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and interact with staff, residents, and visitors professionally.
- Adhere to an ongoing cleanliness program for each building and follow through with assigned tasks.
- Strong interest in social justice advocacy.
- Valid phone number required.
- Must pass a background check.
