About the Role
The Market Manager is responsible for leading and driving the business performance of distributors across the San Diego territory. This role requires a dynamic leader who can mentor and manage Field Sales Representatives and Distributor Partners to meet and exceed set goals, while planning, executing, and achieving business targets in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance the performance of Ballast Point Brewing Co. distributors across San Diego.
- Conduct regular in-person meetings to review performance, programming, and market opportunities.
- Mentor the internal Field Sales Representative team in key markets.
- Set clear goals and drive accountability for both the wholesaler and FSR teams, using metrics to measure performance and improve processes.
- Lead the execution of the monthly, quarterly, and annual business plans, ensuring that all targets are met.
- Work closely with the National/Key Account Team to support and execute brand initiatives and promotional programming.
- Constantly monitor evolving business trends to anticipate changes, improve performance, and drive sales results.
- Participate in and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual planning meetings and business reviews with distributor leadership.
- Oversee the planning and execution of local events, sampling, and other market initiatives, working closely with distributors and the FSR team.
- Manage team budgets, track wholesaler incentive programming, and oversee T&E and invoices.
- Conduct annual team performance reviews and development planning.
- Review weekly FSR KARMA notes, providing support and follow-ups as needed.
Requirements
- 2+ Years experience in distributor management with a strong understanding of wholesaler operations.
- Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team.
- A background in and passion for the craft beer industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong financial acumen.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and hold other departments accountable for performance.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform critical decision-making.
