About the Company
- The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization owns Amazon’s global inventory management systems, deciding what, when, where, and how much to buy to meet Amazon’s goals and satisfy customers for millions of items across hundreds of product lines worth billions of dollars globally. Our systems are built in-house and are at the cutting edge of automated, large-scale inventory and supply chain planning and optimization. We foster innovative ideas, creating intelligent, self-learning systems to maximize the efficiency of Amazon's inventory investment and placement decisions.
- The Fulfillment Optimization team uses cutting-edge science, machine learning, and scalable cloud software to improve customer outcomes and transform logistics, automating and optimizing shipments under demand, pricing, and supply uncertainty. Our systems use real-time, large-scale optimization techniques to select shipment origins and consolidate orders for timely delivery at the lowest transportation cost. We leverage big data to identify success/failure patterns, focus areas, root causes, and build predictive models to address impactful problems. The complexity of data, variables, customers, and locations makes this role challenging and rewarding for problem-solvers who thrive in ambiguity and seek to discover universal concepts and innovative ML solutions.
- Amazon.com has a culture of data-driven decision-making, demanding timely, accurate, and actionable data analysis. Work within SCOT FO will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision-making at Amazon.com.
- As a Data Scientist, you will work in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments, collaborating with Product Managers, ML Scientists, and Senior Executives to gather requirements and apply data science methodologies to solve complex business problems. You should possess deep expertise in analyzing huge and complex datasets from multiple domains, and be adept at designing and implementing solutions using various data science methodologies for data analysis automation and business problem-solving. You should be able to understand business requirements and implement reporting solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- This opportunity is ideal for highly motivated and talented data scientists seeking to apply and grow their technical depth and breadth while defining and driving key aspects of the customer experience on Amazon.com.
