About the Role
As an admissions nurse at VITAS Healthcare, you will be the first face of hospice for patients and families, setting their expectations for their end-of-life care journey.
Responsibilities
- Travel to meet with patients and families
- Educate patients and families about the benefits of hospice care and the services offered by VITAS
- Ask questions and listen with empathy to learn about each patient’s end-of-life needs, wants and beliefs
- Use this information to determine if hospice is the right path for the patient
- Ensure a comfortable transition for patients who elect to receive hospice care with VITAS
Requirements
- Current RN license
- Reliable transportation
- Previous experience in a physician’s office, hospital, long-term care or assisted living facility
Work Type
- Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Travel within assigned service area
Education Level
- Bachelor's degree preferred
