About the Role
Marktplaats is a leading online marketplace in the Netherlands focused on sustainable commerce. This role supports cross-functional teams in the Product & Technology function by fostering a data-driven mindset, uncovering opportunities, and enabling informed decisions across product, business, and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, commercial leads, and marketers to understand goals and business context, translating them into an analytical agenda.
- Identify opportunities and risks such as drops in conversion, shifts in monetization, changes in competitive positioning, and emerging user behavior.
- Build clear and compelling dashboards and reports focused on key revenue, retention, and growth KPIs.
- Extract signal from noise using large-scale, complex datasets in SQL, Python, and Databricks to measure incremental marketing impact, customer lifetime value, and user satisfaction.
- Communicate findings to influence decisions at all levels, from squad reviews to leadership strategy discussions.
- Collaborate with data, product, and engineering teams to enhance data quality, tracking, event modeling, metric definitions, and documentation.
Requirements
- 8+ years in analytics, preferably in a product-led digital business like a marketplace or e-commerce.
- Expert SQL (nested structures, window functions, query optimization) and Python for analysis, modeling, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, BigQuery, AWS, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with Tableau or similar BI tools.
- Practical experience with Google Analytics 4.
- Solid understanding of marketplace revenue drivers: monetization, funnel economics, customer lifetime value, and acquisition vs. retention trade-offs.
- Proven ability to turn ambiguous business questions into clear analytical plans.
- Demonstrated success in influencing decisions by reframing weak questions.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Curiosity about user behavior, including trust, conversion drivers, and user retention.
