About the Role
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is seeking a Vice President/Associate for its Private Credit Investing team in Tokyo. This role involves originating, diligencing, structuring, executing, and monitoring corporate debt investments within one of the world's largest alternative credit investing platforms.
Responsibilities
- Originate investment ideas across the Credit product suite through early engagement with relevant parties, such as financial sponsors and company management teams.
- Conduct due diligence and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses.
- Participate in structuring, negotiating, and documenting investments.
- Communicate and defend investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees, including relevant AMD and Firm-wide Investment Committees.
- Actively monitor existing investments in the portfolio.
- Build relationships with sponsors, management teams, and internal GS stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Investment Banking and Private Credit/Direct Lending.
- Native level Japanese communication skills.
- High-level proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong quantitative, financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and creative mindset with the ability to analyze a variety of industries and businesses.
- Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent judgments.
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people.
