About the Role

This role sits at the intersection of legal practice and applied AI, functioning closer to an in-house R&D team than a traditional legal role. It is for a tech-forward builder who can apply AI to legal work, prototype tools, and ship them to handle tasks like research, analysis, contract review, and regulatory tracking. You will serve brands across Match Group's portfolio and partner with engineering, product, and other technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the highest-leverage AI opportunities by understanding how legal work happens today.
  • Develop a clear point of view on AI's capabilities in a legal context.
  • Build, prototype, and ship AI tools and agents that handle real legal work.
  • Connect AI tools to necessary data and systems.
  • Train, launch, and iterate with Legal teams on new tools and workflows.
  • Build evaluation harnesses and quality metrics.
  • Coordinate with Legal Operations, IT, Security, and Privacy.
  • Define what AI-native legal looks like at Match Group.
  • Partner with Legal leadership to develop a forward-looking view of an AI-native legal function.
  • Track the state of the art in legal AI and applied AI.
  • Build the roadmap for extending capabilities across teams and brands.

Requirements

  • No law degree required.
  • Strong candidates come from engineering and product backgrounds, or from legal backgrounds where they learned to build.
  • Understand how lawyers think well enough to earn their trust.
  • 4+ years building, deploying, or applying AI products and tools at an AI-forward tech company, a startup, a law firm innovation team, or in-house.
  • 2+ years building hands-on with LLMs.
  • Hands-on experience with prompting, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and the basics of fine-tuning or model selection.
  • Strong technical fluency: building working systems yourself, working with APIs and data, and reasoning about integrations, permissions, and guardrails.
  • A track record of shipping to real users, learning from how they use it, and iterating.
  • Excellent communication across legal, technical, and business audiences.
  • Experience building AI products in regulated, compliance-sensitive, or high-stakes domains (preferred).
  • Experience as a legal engineer, legal AI engineer, legal solutions architect, legal technologist, or applied AI engineer at a law firm, tech company, or AI lab (preferred).
  • Experience building something new within a defined team, measuring it rigorously, and making the case for broader rollout (preferred).
  • Experience supporting multiple business units or brands with shared tooling (preferred).
