About the Role
As a Senior Engineer on the Tile team, you will serve as a specialist supporting the product, developing application architecture, and influencing implementation. You will apply software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems, design and implement architecture independently, and influence peers through proposed designs and feedback. You will also demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, assist in triaging operational issues, and eliminate repeat occurrences.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain collaborative editing features for Target’s designers and merchants.
- Connect the Tile application to Target’s product and materials data sources.
- Integrate the Tile application into the PLM ecosystem by building search, notification and reporting capabilities.
- Help scale the Tile application as it onboards a large cohort of new users in 2027.
- Improve reliability and observability of our application to help maintain a high engineering quality bar and excellent user experience as we grow.
Requirements
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Strong knowledge of a common enterprise backend stack.
- Demonstrates strong enterprise architecture fundamentals (e.g. “why do we put a service layer in front of a database”)
- Demonstrates knowledge of common testing frameworks/patterns for front-end systems.
- Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
- Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
- Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
- Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
- Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
- Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
- Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
