About the Role
As a Staff Product Engineer, you will take agent products from concept to launch, transforming innovative ideas into beloved prototypes and ultimately into full-fledged products. You will lead the team responsible for building these products, including the agents engineers use daily and future AI-native applications.
Responsibilities
- Prototype new agent products and interactions rapidly, presenting working concepts to engineers before formal specification.
- Take ownership of products from inception to launch, shaping the product, building it end-to-end, and delivering it to users.
- Focus on user experience by observing engineers, identifying areas where agents can assist or hinder their workflow, and implementing improvements.
- Establish and define agent user experience patterns across Nominal, emphasizing real-time work streaming, transparent step-by-step processes, source citation, and user control.
- Develop agent-native products for hardware workflows such as reviews, qualification, and reporting, moving beyond simple chat interfaces on existing screens.
- Provide technical leadership for product engineers and collaborate closely with design, product management, and the agent platform team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in end-to-end product development, with a strong foundation in front-end and full-stack technologies.
- Proven ability to take products from zero to one, including AI or agent experiences that users have adopted for daily use.
- Demonstrated product sense and taste, with a clear understanding of what constitutes a great product, what to include, and what to omit.
- Deep user empathy and a consistent practice of gathering direct user feedback.
- A history of setting product engineering direction for a team and elevating the skills of surrounding engineers.
- Daily experience using modern AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and a commitment to continuous learning and adopting better working methods.
