About the Role

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to work closely with the business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and taking a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office, working directly with clients to provide consulting services.

Responsibilities

Perform civil analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects.
Manage and design multiple concurrent projects.
Lead design team efforts.
Manage project team for budget and schedule control.
Develop fee and qualification-based proposals.
Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
Conduct marketing/business development activities.
Contribute positively to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
Lead project teams to complete project design deliverables.
Lead the development of preliminary to final design calculations and drawings.
Perform site due diligence and entitlement investigation and reporting.
Review field information and perform field inspections of existing stormwater facilities.
Perform technical writing for design reports and permitting applications.
Lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams.

Requirements

At least ten years of experience.

Experience in providing engineering for a variety of projects involving the design of sites, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects.

Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Experience performing consulting services for internal and external clients utilizing Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), erosion and sediment control design and calculations, Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report Writing, review and preparation of Technical Specifications, cost estimating, develop project specifications; design for compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations; as well as general civil engineering concepts.
Land development experience in the design of life sciences, commercial, office, higher education, mixed-use, residential, healthcare, municipal, alternative energy (solar, BESS, etc.) and/or Federal projects.
Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
Active local industry involvement is a plus.

Skills

Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications.
Proficient in Hydro CAD, Storm CAD and SWWM (or similar) stormwater modeling programs.
Technical experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of civil construction documents, and earthwork calculations.
Stormwater experience in Texas areas preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred.
Understand database concepts.
Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
Ability to travel.
