About the Role

As a Guidewire Lead Consultant, you will be the technical and functional anchor on Guidewire programmes, guiding clients through implementations and migrations. You will translate business needs into solution designs, lead technical teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients. You will also proactively assess Guidewire's cloud releases to identify opportunities for clients to adopt new capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical design across PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and/or BillingCenter, owning the configure-vs-customise decision and ensuring design consistency.
  • Facilitate discovery workshops and fit-gap sessions, supporting BAs in translating business requirements into user stories and specifications.
  • Oversee configuration, product model, UI, rules, workflows, and integrations, conducting design and code reviews against Guidewire best practices.
  • Shape integration patterns with various systems using Cloud APIs, App Events, messaging, and plugins.
  • Assess upcoming Guidewire releases for impact and value, incorporating findings into release plans and upgrade paths.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical and functional defects during SIT, UAT, and hypercare.
  • Mentor and motivate technical analysts and developers, and contribute to practice accelerators and assets.
  • Produce and maintain solution designs, technical specifications, process flows, and operational handover materials.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in insurance technology, with at least 5 years on Guidewire implementations.
  • At least 2 full lifecycles in a lead or design authority role on Guidewire.
  • Hands-on depth in at least one of PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter or BillingCenter, with working knowledge of the others.
  • Strong product model/Product Designer, rules, and integration framework experience.
  • Exposure to Guidewire Cloud Platform and on-premise to cloud upgrades.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum/SAFe) and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience with hybrid delivery on multi-vendor programmes.
  • Clear, confident communication with business users, underwriters, claims handlers, and IT leadership.
  • Background in process re-engineering or change management.
  • Ability to stay composed in fast-moving environments and identify risks early.
  • Experience in at least one of personal lines (motor, home), commercial lines (property, casualty, fleet) or specialty.
  • Awareness of London market and regulation (Lloyd's, MGAs, delegated authority, bordereaux, coverholders, ACORD standards) is a strong plus.
  • Awareness of regulatory context (FCA Consumer Duty, Solvency II, IFRS 17 data implications) is a strong plus.
  • Reinsurance touchpoints such as treaty and facultative arrangements and ceded recoveries.
