About the Role

As a Security Detection Engineer, you will analyze threat landscapes and attack techniques, derive relevant detection use cases, and develop the corresponding detection logic for our security systems. You will support the entire detection lifecycle – from analyzing potential attack paths and developing and documenting detections to testing and continuously optimizing existing detection rules. With your experience, you will actively help shape and advance DKB’s approach to cyberattack detection.

Responsibilities

  • Develop use cases and detection rules to continuously improve attack detection across SIEM, EDR, cloud, and other security systems.
  • Analyze current threats, attack techniques, and TTPs, translating them into suitable detection use cases using the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Analyze log and telemetry data to assess the relevance of data sources for detecting attack techniques and suspicious behavior.
  • Test and validate detection rules for effectiveness and continuously optimize them.
  • Assess existing detection coverage using MITRE ATT&CK, identify gaps, and develop measures to close them.
  • Work closely with Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunting, and Incident Response teams to translate insights into new or improved detection rules.
  • Further develop Detection-as-Code processes, contributing to versioning, reviews, testing, and automated deployment of detection content.
  • Contribute ideas and experience to continuously improve detection strategy, processes, measures, and tools.

Requirements

  • Several years of professional experience in IT security.
  • Solid hands-on experience in Detection Engineering.
  • Experience in Threat Hunting or a SOC environment is ideal.
  • Strong knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Experience translating attack techniques and TTPs into concrete detection use cases.
  • Experience with SIEM, EDR, or comparable detection platforms.
  • Familiarity with relevant query and detection languages.
  • Good understanding of relevant security telemetry and log sources (endpoint, identity, network, cloud, Windows, Linux).
  • Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented work approach.
  • High degree of initiative and teamwork.
  • Very good German language skills.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
  • Relevant Detection Engineering experience is most important, a specific university degree is not required.
