About the Role
As an Analytics Engineer, you will be a key driver in evolving Flink’s data foundations. Your goal is to ensure the data layer remains high-quality, performant, and easy to extend.
Responsibilities
- Own the development of our transformation layer (dbt) and downstream surfaces (Looker/Lightdash).
- Identify technical debt and implement modern approaches to ensure foundations remain performant and easy to extend.
- Work closely with business leaders to deeply understand their problems and proactively shape the data solutions they need.
- Lead and evolve a major portion of our reporting landscape, responsible for the health, accuracy, and roadmap of data models.
- Champion engineering best practices: CI/CD, robust testing, and version control.
- Act as the technical liaison between Product/Engineering and the business, ensuring data infrastructure evolves in sync with product growth.
Requirements
- Believe great analytics engineering starts with understanding the 'why'.
- Enjoy diving into the nuances of operations and finance to build better models.
- Have extensive experience with SQL, dbt, and Looker (or similar BI tools).
- Possess a deep understanding of cloud data warehouses.
- Take pride in building 'trusted' data.
- Advocate for clean code, documentation, and rigorous testing.
- Possess excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to drill down complex technical topics into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
- Mastery over SQL (preferably Google BigQuery).
- Extensive experience modeling tables with large, complex datasets.
- Understand how to build a transformation layer that is both performant and scalable.
