About the Role
Keywords Studios Asia is seeking an accomplished, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Level Designer to join our Singapore-based team for an exciting, new, and unannounced project. This role involves shaping game levels by adding personality, narrative, and innovative gameplay concepts.
Responsibilities
- Finding the fun, injecting personality, and adding narrative into games through level design.
- Prototyping innovative level and gameplay concepts using 3D modeling and scripting.
- Blocking out environments with level progression and overall game experience in mind.
- Collaborating with environment artists and game designers, and providing solutions across disciplines.
- Assisting in the improvement of production pipelines and workflows.
- Conducting playtesting sessions to gather user feedback and action points.
- Iterating on the gameplay experience for quality and performance.
- Maintaining knowledge of trending level design techniques and their project-specific applications.
- Sharing expertise with peers and collaborating openly.
Requirements
- Experience with Unreal, Unity, or proprietary engines.
- At least one published AAA title in a level design capacity.
- Confident 3D level prototyping and modeling skills (e.g., Max, Maya, Unreal).
- Experience with gameplay and level/mission design scripting tools (e.g., Kismet, Unreal Editor, Lua).
- Aptitude in basic programming principles; C# knowledge is a plus.
- Firm technical ability relative to game engine technologies.
- Expertise in level design concepts and 2D level layouts.
- Receptive to direction and feedback, performing well in a collaborative team.
- An enthusiastic gamer with an understanding of level and game design methodologies.
- Ability to clearly and passionately communicate design ideas.
- Experience or appetite for 3rd person action adventure games is an advantage.
- May be required to complete a level design assignment and interviews.
