About the Role
As a Senior Technical Sourcer supporting APAC, you will build the talent pipelines that support our Engineering and Applied Science teams. Partnering closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and technical leaders, you will translate hiring priorities into targeted sourcing strategies, engage exceptional technical talent, and bring market insights into hiring decisions. You will own sourcing strategy and upper-funnel execution across multiple APAC markets, adapting your approach to different talent ecosystems, candidate motivations, and hiring needs. This role suits someone who combines hands-on sourcing expertise with sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to turn data into action.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own sourcing strategies across APAC, tailoring your approach by role, level, location, and skill set for Engineering and Applied Science hiring.
- Build and manage healthy talent pipelines, from market mapping and prospect identification through engagement, initial qualification, and handoff to recruiting partners.
- Balance immediate hiring needs with long-term relationships for critical talent areas.
- Partner closely with recruiters and hiring managers to define target profiles, calibrate candidate quality, agree priorities, and establish clear handoffs and feedback loops.
- Engage hard-to-reach technical talent through thoughtful, personalized outreach.
- Translate The Trade Desk’s engineering challenges, business impact, and culture into compelling conversations grounded in candidates’ interests and motivations.
- Use funnel data to improve results, tracking outreach response, candidate engagement, qualification, and downstream conversion.
- Diagnose where pipelines lose momentum and recommend practical changes to targeting, messaging, or assessment alignment.
- Bring actionable APAC market intelligence to hiring discussions, including talent availability, competitor activity, candidate compensation expectations, and location-specific dynamics.
- Use evidence to inform realistic expectations and hiring trade-offs.
- Explore and apply AI-assisted research, automation, and emerging sourcing tools to improve research depth, relevance, and efficiency, while maintaining accuracy, candidate privacy, and personalized engagement.
- Diversify sourcing channels through technical communities, referrals, open-source projects, research networks, and other relevant talent ecosystems.
- Communicate pipeline health and priorities clearly, sharing progress, risks, market feedback, and recommended next steps as hiring needs evolve.
- Maintain accurate candidate and sourcing data in ATS and CRM systems, supporting a coordinated candidate experience and reliable reporting.
- Share successful approaches and market knowledge with the wider TA team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of technical sourcing or technical recruiting experience, gained in-house, within an agency, or through a combination of both, with a strong track record of engaging engineering talent.
- Experience sourcing across multiple APAC markets and understand how talent availability, candidate expectations, and engagement approaches vary by location.
- Ability to independently translate an ambiguous hiring brief into a focused sourcing plan, test assumptions, and adjust based on evidence.
- Experience building pipelines that progressed into qualified interviews and hires, and can explain how sourcing decisions contributed to outcomes.
- Understanding of technical concepts such as distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and machine learning well enough to identify relevant experience and hold credible initial candidate conversations.
- Proficiency in advanced search techniques and tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, search engines, and ATS/CRM platforms, and know when to look beyond established channels.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted tools or automation in sourcing and can demonstrate how you assess their accuracy and impact.
- Comfort analyzing funnel metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and translating findings into clear recommendations.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with recruiters and hiring managers through clear communication, constructive challenge, and consistent follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple complex searches with strong prioritization, ownership, and adaptability.
- Integrity, discretion, and a commitment to inclusive hiring and a thoughtful candidate experience.
- Sourcing for applied science, AI/ML, or other highly specialized technical disciplines.
- Building pipelines for senior or staff-level engineers, particularly in distributed systems, large-scale infrastructure, or data-intensive environments.
- Developing sourcing approaches for new markets or hard-to-fill technical roles.
- Familiarity with technology platforms operating at significant scale.
