About the Role
The US Oncology Network is seeking an Insurance Specialist to support the Medical Oncology Department at Texas Oncology in Austin, Texas. This role involves managing delinquent accounts, resolving billing errors, and ensuring accurate payment postings within a community-based cancer care setting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collection duties.
- Review reports, research, and resolve issues.
- Review payment postings for accuracy and to ensure account balances are current.
- Work with co-workers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors.
- Monitor and update delinquent accounts status.
- Recommend accounts for collection or write-off.
- Contact patients to secure past due balances, verify demographics and insurance providers, update systems, and document conversations.
- Answer patient payment, billing, and insurance questions and resolve complaints.
- Refer patients to Patient Benefits Representative to set up payment plans.
- Maintain credit balances of patients and payors, ensuring timely refunds within government guidelines.
- Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of state & federal collections guidelines.
- Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.
- Minimum four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience required (Level 2).
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology coding (Level 2).
- Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred (Level Sr).
- Minimum two (2) years insurance resolution experience resolving issues with patients and payers as well as four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience required (Level Sr).
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required (Level Sr).
- Demonstrate knowledge of oncology medical coding (Level Sr).
- Demonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing required (Level Sr).
