Responsibilities
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve precision optics manufacturing processes.
- Assist the ME to determine engineering tasks, project timelines, and process pathways.
- Support manufacturing teams by systematically resolving technical production issues.
- Analyze process flows using Lean tools to improve quality, throughput, and cost.
- Record improvement results accurately to ensure standardized, retrievable workflows.
- Work closely with team members and fill in on the production line when needed.
- Lead targeted improvement initiatives directed by the ME and Team Leaders.
- Encourage teams to exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality.
- Facilitate the 5-Why process and follow up on cell-specific corrective actions.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and vendors when the ME is unavailable.
Requirements
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD/CAM software.
- Ability to create and deliver Just-In-Time (JIT) training for production staff.
- Top-notch interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, cooperative, positive, and able to work effectively in teams.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.
- The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level can vary from quiet to loud frequencies.
- May involve the use of oils and solvents.
- Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
- May require area specific safety training.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes.
- May be assigned to various production areas as needs require.
- Employment at Optimax Systems, Inc. is subject to export control compliance requirements, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
