About the Role
Rising Ground's Just Us program is a holistic, gender-responsive diversion program for girls, gender-nonconforming, and TGNC youth at high risk of involvement in the youth justice system. The program utilizes healing-centered, anti-oppressive practices, combining individual coaching, clinical interventions, group activities, and economic empowerment to foster leadership, self-reliance, healthy relationships, and educational/work opportunities. The full-time Counselor will provide youth-driven, clinical, and emotional support and advocacy, aiming to become a national model.
Responsibilities
- Connect with 15-20 young people and serve as their primary point of contact.
- Conduct weekly hour-long individual sessions with each young person.
- Co-construct and assess individualized engagement plans with each young person.
- Provide weekend support to staff at the Teen Hub on a rotating schedule.
- Collaborate and coordinate cases with program staff and stakeholders.
- Participate in weekly supervision, team meetings, group supervision, and other required meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely program records, case files, and funder reports.
- Perform other required duties.
Requirements
- LMSW, LCSW, or other clinical licenses required.
- Clinical supervision offered for licensure (LCSW/LMHC).
- Highly organized, self-motivated worker capable of managing competing demands.
- Creative problem-solver who anticipates challenges and seizes collaboration opportunities.
- Ability to implement vision, think strategically, exercise good judgment, and lead change.
- High level of self-awareness and ability to give and receive feedback.
- Impeccable attention to detail, systems, and processes.
- Ability to work with flexibility, independence, accountability, passion, and humor.
- Meaningful commitment to practicing from a healing-centered, anti-oppressive stance.
- Lived experience within systems impacting the target youth population (youth justice, criminal legal system) strongly preferred but not required.
