About the Role

As Producer, you will plan the financial, production, and resource requirements for Olympic athlete features. You will contribute creative ideas and work with the features team to bring them to life. You are responsible for exercising budget authority during program preparation, production, and post-production, and will coordinate the work of others, including planning work schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Production and Post-Production on Olympic Features
  • Contribute ideas for feature content and participate in the preparation of series objectives
  • Assist in developing content, including field producing/directing, researching, writing, and editing
  • Prepare scripts and ensure adherence to program style and format
  • Story produce / story edit content
  • Organize interviewee participation, develop background, introduction, and line of questioning, conduct research, and brief hosts
  • Assign, coordinate, and supervise the work of coworkers and contributors to ensure all necessary content is captured
  • Ensure proper and accurate clearance of all material used in the program
  • Exercise editorial responsibility as delegated by Management, ensuring stories meet CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Procedures

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience, with three years in broadcasting, storytelling, documentary films, TV production, or a closely related industry
  • A portfolio with examples of experience in conducting interviews, research & fact checking, and overseeing edits & sound mixes
  • Commitment to finding diverse, non-traditional voices
  • Intercultural competencies with a focus on connecting with and growing new audiences
  • Experience working in both traditional media (e.g., television broadcast) and digital content production, supported by camera and editing skills for pre-production and media management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to edit or rework others' work and clearly explain concepts
  • Willingness to be a team player, perform various tasks in a small unit, and adapt to changing work patterns and methods
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond to competing demands in a short timeframe
  • Possess a unique perspective and innovative vision
  • Collaborative approach to new ideas and processes
  • Ability to take critical feedback and incorporate it into work
  • Strong sense of journalistic urgency and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in group discussions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns and methods
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, overtime, and weekends as required
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing
  • Candidates who advance will be asked to complete a background check, including a mandatory Criminal record check
