About the Role

The Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) is committed to personalized cancer care to improve patient experience and outcomes, requiring innovation to drive major changes in practice and care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes relevant educational theories and demonstrates high standards of clinical practice knowledge.
  • Facilitates the optimal delivery of the departmental RT Education Program within RMP for qualified radiation therapists and undergraduate students.
  • Develops, designs, coordinates, and delivers training and education programs for new techniques, equipment, and treatment modalities.
  • Maintains current awareness of new developments in radiation therapy to enhance knowledge and improve care quality.
  • Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates patient education programs and learning resources.
  • Utilizes research data to advocate for excellent and holistic care for patients and families.
  • Participates in quality programs and initiatives of RMP, ensuring Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Contributes to staff recruitment, selection, and retention strategies.
  • Acts as a leader, role model, and resource, performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • BSc in Radiation Therapy.
  • Completion of a recognized Master's degree program in Science or Education.
  • 5 years' experience in area of practice.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Previous experience with design of education courses.
  • Teaching/coaching experience.
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain, certification with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Be a member of, or eligible for membership in, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • All candidates must be able to function with proficiency in English.
  • Excellent teaching skills required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills required.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Effective organizational, prioritization, and time management skills required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult education required.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act; Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act; Regulated Health Professions Act, and other relevant legislation required.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) required.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Ability to be flexible in dealing with all levels of staff within the organization.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgement with the ability to multi-task.
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies.
  • Demonstrated effective collaboration skills.
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record, and maintain satisfactory attendance.
