Responsibilities
- Maintaining kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
- Operating commercial dishwashing equipment and washing dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware.
- Sanitizing all kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and food preparation areas according to health department standards.
- Cleaning and maintaining dishwashing machines, ensuring proper chemical levels and temperatures.
- Assisting chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables.
- Stocking and organizing kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment.
- Transporting food items and supplies between storage areas, prep areas, and cooking stations.
- Emptying trash receptacles and maintaining waste disposal areas.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, and refrigeration units.
- Sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing kitchen floors throughout shifts.
- Maintaining cleanliness of storage areas, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
- Reporting equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Receiving and properly storing food deliveries according to food safety protocols.
- Rotating stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles.
- Monitoring inventory levels and notifying management of supply needs.
- Ensuring proper labeling and dating of stored food items.
- Following all food safety regulations and hotel health policies.
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Maintaining personal hygiene standards required for food service.
- Completing required food safety training and certifications.
- Supporting other kitchen staff during peak service times.
- Maintaining kitchen organization and cleanliness between meal periods.
- Embodying the 1 Hotels Vision, Mission, and Compass; delivering on Our Promise, providing Good-Natured Service, and upholding our Brand Pillars.
Requirements
- Are organized and proficient at multitasking.
- Are a reliable team player willing to learn and adapt to new situations.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently and 25 pounds constantly.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.
