About the Role
As Head Coach Developer, you will own the program's operations, collaborating with the Head of Coaching to shape the curriculum and deliver six on-pitch and off-pitch CPD sessions. You will design and deliver these sessions, run workshops, and lead delivery from start to finish, providing feedback to help participants grow and preparing them for the hiring process. This consultancy role offers significant scope to influence the program's first year, ideal for an experienced coach developer or educator passionate about community and grassroots football.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver the CPD Programme, including on and off-pitch sessions with clear milestones and development criteria.
- Ensure content is engaging, fun, and suitable for mixed abilities and ages.
- Deliver sessions to aspiring community coaches.
- Support the planning and execution of key program events like Kick Off and CPDs.
- Arrange shadowing opportunities for participants to learn by doing.
- Assist in recruiting mentors, leveraging your network for excellent coach developers.
- Pair mentors with participants and manage these pairings.
- Serve as the primary contact for mentors and participants, reporting progress to the Head of Coaching.
- Track participant development through session observations and support those at risk of falling short.
- Manage graduation and the handover process into the hiring pipeline for coaching roles.
- Gather feedback, adapt the program, and uphold safeguarding policies and values.
- Ensure sharp delivery and high-quality, BFF-aligned programming in collaboration with the Programme Organiser.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the barriers women face in football.
- A recognized coaching qualification, UEFA B or above (UEFA A desirable).
- Proven track record in designing coach development curriculum and directly mentoring or developing coaches.
- Experience coaching in community settings beyond club or academy football.
- In-depth understanding of the grassroots and community football landscape, including challenges for women in coaching.
- Comfortable owning delivery end-to-end as a consultant, working independently.
- Organizational skills to plan and run a CPD program from scratch.
- Excellent communication skills with coaches, mentors, families, and partner organizations.
- Confident and up-to-date on safeguarding in youth sport, with an enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to travel to London twice a month and work Saturdays as per the delivery calendar.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
- Experience in coach education or a formal coach development role (desirable).
- Clear understanding of the barriers facing women and girls in football (desirable).
- Existing network within the women's game (desirable).
- Familiarity with FA coaching qualification pathways (desirable).
- Experience working in the not-for-profit or social impact sector (desirable).
- A mentoring, teaching, or coach education qualification (desirable).
