About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for managing and supervising assigned areas, adhering to company policies, and learning all phases of store operations. In the Store Manager's absence, they lead the entire store operation to ensure company standards and best practices are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity.
- Analyze Store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall Store performance.
- Communicate variances to Company standards to the Store Manager.
- Ensure proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all State, Local and Federal regulations.
- Ensure scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning tasks.
- Accept special assignments as directed by Leadership.
- Administer payroll, including daily punch edits, Associate scheduling compliance, and payroll transmission/reporting.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non-exempt Associates.
- Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
- Assist with Associate Relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager.
- Assist in managing and monitoring expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours to plan and adjust to business trends.
- Understand and practice safe behaviors, prioritizing safety.
- Ensure all Associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.
- Maintain adherence to Company safety policies and ensure the safety of Associates and Customers.
- Assist in facilitating monthly safety meetings.
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Execute Customer service and Merchandise Presentation programs through Associate training and supervision.
- Supervise and coach Retail Associates in providing efficient and friendly service.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain and model a professional appearance according to the Company Dress Code.
- Reinforce the Company Dress Code at all times.
- Manage Store to ensure a clean, neat, easy to shop environment.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
- Ensure merchandise is presented and organized according to Company merchandising guidelines.
- Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected Company timeframe.
- Assist with training Associates on Loss Prevention awareness and Store shortage goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Maintain a large Customer service presence on the sales floor, Customer and Associate engagement, and heightened Loss Prevention awareness.
- Assist in leading the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution.
- Monitor mark-out-of-stock policy for proper administration.
- Ensure Public View Monitor (PVM) system is maintained properly.
Requirements
- Two or more years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in a retail environment.
- Must demonstrate the ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively to Store Associates at all levels.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize tasks, give direction, and follow through to completion.
- Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.
- Maintain high quality of Customer service.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
