About the Role
As a member of the professional medical team, the Medical Technologist accurately performs clinical laboratory analyses and examinations to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment. This position requires complex problem-solving skills, independent judgment, theoretical knowledge, and adherence to regulatory lab requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performs testing accurately and in a timely manner.
- Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
- Communicates stat and critical lab results and instrument malfunctions to appropriate medical personnel.
- Performs QC, routine and advanced maintenance, and instrument troubleshooting.
- Prepares reagents and maintains proper inventory of laboratory supplies with cost containment in mind.
- Maintains knowledge of required computer functions for ordering, performing, and resulting tests.
- Teaches in the Medical Laboratory Science Program and Lab rotations.
- Meets all regulatory lab requirements consistently.
- Performs additional duties as requested by manager.
Requirements
- NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Must obtain full license within 24 months of hire if holding a provisional or limited permit.
