About the Role
As a Clinical Leader in Practices, your strong ability to lead and guide others will serve as a valuable resource for staff, as well as facilitating patient care.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Practice Triad leadership team to run day-to-day functions, resolving issues and concerns.
- Demonstrates open communication, consistent with STAR behaviors and organizational mission/vision.
- Functions as the clinical resource for LPN, MOA, and Clerical staff.
- Demonstrates rounding with purpose on patients, staff, and physicians, using key words to identify issues.
- Ensures staff consistently uses AIDET during patient rounding.
- Resolves issues and concerns at the time of rounding, following up with lead physician and nurse manager.
- Identifies and has knowledge of all high-risk patients, ensuring the plan of care is current.
- Recognizes staff for good performance or role modeling.
- Coaches staff privately for performance below standard, initiating counseling or assisting with disciplinary action.
- Maintains awareness of individual practice issues, resolving them professionally and holding staff accountable.
- Participates in staff selection, ensuring the peer interview process is followed.
- Is fiscally responsible, participating in practice budget development and management.
- Responsible for practice pillar goal success, working with leadership to achieve patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, financial, growth, and quality goals.
- Ensures staff educational requirements are obtained and maintained annually.
- Assures new practice changes are accompanied by staff competency.
- Mentors all new clinical staff and acts as an ongoing mentor to practice staff.
- Completes annual performance appraisals for direct reports.
- Makes assignments based on patient needs and staff competency.
- Ensures staff work within their scope and adequate staffing is available.
- Assigns and monitors lunch, break, and committee meeting coverage.
- Communicates staffing overages or needs to Nurse Manager.
- Evaluates staffing daily and makes staffing decisions with fair and consistent policies.
- Maintains regulatory compliance and prepares staff for readiness.
- Demonstrates understanding of national patient safety goals and ensures team practices within them.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in nursing required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions license/certification required.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.).
- Routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation.
- Strong visual and auditory acuity.
- Multitasking, prioritizing workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams.
- Emotional resilience due to frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
- Ability to interact precisely and compassionately with patients and colleagues.
- Potential exposure to infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces.
- PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility commonly required.
