About the Role

The Deputy Inspector General will support the Inspector General of the Department of Investigation for several key New York City agencies, overseeing administrative functions, investigations, and audits, particularly in the affordable housing and construction sectors. This role is vital for ensuring transparency and accountability within these agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess allegations and complaints to identify potential investigative avenues and guide staff in planning and executing investigative operations.
  • Lead and supervise confidential investigations of fraud, corruption, misconduct, and waste.
  • Oversee the drafting and editing of investigative reports with findings and recommendations for corrective actions and policy reforms.
  • Collaborate with other investigative units, prosecutorial bodies, and City agencies.
  • Manage personnel, resources, and workflow to ensure timely and high-quality investigative outcomes.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of full-time experience in investigation, auditing, law enforcement, law security, management analysis, or in a major operational area of the agency.
  • At least 18 months of which must have been in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
  • Approval of the Commissioner of Investigation.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
  • 18 months of experience in the exercise of discretion and professional judgment in significant policy matters related to criminal justice or areas particularly relevant to the Office of the Inspector General.
