About the Role
The Associate Engineer, Building Optimization will work within the Division of Energy Management's Operations Unit, supporting the Engineering team with the management of technical building controls projects. This role is crucial for optimizing building performance and driving energy efficiency across the City's portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering team with the management of a portfolio of highly technical building controls projects.
- Provide support on project scoping, managing project budgets, identifying engineering recommendations for building optimization, and performing project inspections.
- Provide technical expertise on relevant projects, including reviewing controls design drawings, project scope and costs, and energy savings calculations.
- Offer ad hoc advanced technical support on other building controls-related initiatives and innovative advanced technologies.
- Support the Engineering team in monitoring, reporting, and maintaining project-level tracking of key performance metrics.
- Facilitate routine correspondence with City agencies and building controls contractors to drive project management and set clear expectations.
- Support the Engineering team in the expansion of a City-wide building optimization program focused on preventative maintenance and automated controls for efficiency.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a master's degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
