About the Role
The Paralegal Aide will perform a variety of tasks to support attorneys, including data entry, court filings, document processing, and preparing court calendars. This role is crucial for maintaining organized legal records and ensuring smooth court operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform data entry into Law Manager.
- File settlement documents with the Court, including stipulations of settlement and stipulations of discontinuance.
- Process documents such as audit report forms, requests for judicial intervention, 718 stipulations, and mortgage foreclosures.
- Prepare weekly court calendars for attorneys’ appearances by cross-referencing court cases with Law Department records.
- Process division mail received daily through entries into Law Manager.
- Distribute mail to proper recipients.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in paralegal services.
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and four years of full-time satisfactory experience in paralegal services.
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
- Paralegal Certification obtained in the United States from an accredited program or from a program approved by the American Bar Association can substitute for 12 months of experience.
- Undergraduate credit can substitute for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 12 months of experience.
- All candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
- Experience in paralegal services must have involved the American Legal System.
- Experience that is primarily legal secretarial or includes only incidental paralegal services is not acceptable.
- One additional year of pertinent paralegal experience or a baccalaureate degree is required for Assignment Level II duties and pay.
