About the Role

The Sterile Processing Tech 1 will learn and understand Central Sterile Processing (CSP) procedures, including decontamination, preparation, packing, case cart picking, instrument sterilization, and proper equipment operation. The role also involves understanding the process of supplying materials to the Operating Room (OR) accurately and on time. The employee will work independently after completing orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand CSP procedures including Decontamination, Prep and Pack.
  • Pick case carts.
  • Sterilize instruments.
  • Operate CSP equipment properly and safely.
  • Supply materials to the OR accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work independently upon completion of orientation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Fulfill educational requirements for a nationally and NYS accredited Central Service Technician certification program (CRCST or CSPDT).
  • Alternatively, provide evidence of working as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year within the four years prior to January 1, 2015.
  • Obtain CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.
  • Sterile Processing or Materials Processing experience preferred.
  • Able to understand written and oral direction.
  • Able to interpret equipment operation instructions.

  • Monday-Friday 11:00pm-7:30am
  • Available to work weekends and holidays as required

  • $23.55 - $29.31 an hour
