About the Role
This role offers an experienced Nurse Practitioner the opportunity to combine clinical practice with leadership within a growing cardiac surgery program. The Lead Nurse Practitioner will oversee the Cardiothoracic Surgery NP team and support patient care across CTICU and Stepdown units, while mentoring others and driving clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Cardiothoracic Surgery NP team
- Support patient care across the CTICU and Stepdown units
- Clinical assignments will primarily support day shift operations
- Some evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage based on departmental needs
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner License
- Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- Minimum three years of NP experience in a Cardiothoracic ICU, Cardiac Surgery, Critical Care, or related specialty
- Prior leadership, charge, or supervisory experience
- Experience mentoring, onboarding, or precepting Nurse Practitioners
- Experience in quality improvement, program development, or educational initiatives
- Didactic or teaching experience
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
- NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses
